Today's story summary

 I and Zoë head for the water, and using a stick of wood, I dive into the water (I can’t swim apparently), and manage to get away, but I can’t head back because the stone beast is still there.  I spot a cave behind a waterfall, and (after some teasing from Zoë) I head into the cave, and discover that it is inhabited by a forgotten race of “cave people” (R.L. named them, not me.), and they take you to see their king, who provides me with a challenge to make up for your trespassing – you must find three pieces of gold within a time limit, and bring them to him, or I will become his slaves.

Today's summary Of Deep in the jungle of doom.

 I run to the clearing, and strangely enough, the stone beast seems scared of this area, and leaves me alone.  Explore the clearing and find a table, which is decorated with shrunken heads, and has a basket of fruit on top.  Soon, I am unable to resist taking a nice bite of the fruit, as if I am powerless to resist, but when I finish it, I start to feel strange, and Zoë, after appearing concerned for a few seconds, suddenly runs away from me.  I realise that she ran because, I am not human anymore – I am some kind of strange fish like monster!  I hear someone approaching, and (if I decide to wait) it turns out to be a kid named Ben, who is another member of the Junior Explorers.  Thankfully, he knows that I am  really a human, because of a pamphlet he read (it’s not as contrived as it sounds), which talks about a tribe of medicine men, who leave enchanted fruit out to turn people into monsters.  The pamphlet also explains how to reverse the process, by another fruit, so I have to find it (the fruit, not the pamphlet).....

What is Artificial Intelligence?Artificial intelligence refers to the simulation of human intelligence in a machine that is programmed to think like humans. The idea of artificial intelligence initially begins by the computer scientist from 1943 to 1956. A model proposed by Alan Turing which is known as the Turing test. A Turing test is an algorithm that computes the data similar to human nature and behavior for proper response.

Since this Turing test proposed by Alan Turing which plays one of the most important roles in the development of artificial intelligence, So Alan Turing is known as the father of artificial intelligence. This test is based on the principle of human intelligence defined by a machine and execute the task simpler than the human.  

The goal of artificial intelligence includes learning, reasoning, and Perception. As technology advances the machine that calculates basic operation recognized by a specific type of system which requires a machine to optimize through embodied artificial intelligence. So we can say that artificial intelligence is beneficial for different industries where machines are wired for performing complex tasks with the help of artificial intelligence. The artificial intelligence approaches also in mathematics, computer science, linguistics, psychology, space science and so more.

Advantages and Disadvantages of AI

Artificial Intelligence is the intelligence possessed by the machines under which they can perform various functions with human help. With the help of A.I, machines will be able to learn, solve problems, plan things, think, etc. Artificial Intelligence, for example, is the simulation of human intelligence by machines. In the field of technology, Artificial Intelligence is evolving rapidly day by day and it is believed that in the near future, artificial intelligence is going to change human life very drastically and will most probably end all the crises of the world by sorting out the major problems. Our life in this modern age depends largely on computers. It is almost impossible to think about life without computers. We need computers in everything that we use in our daily lives. So it becomes very important to make computers intelligent so that our lives become easy. Artificial Intelligence is the theory and development of computers, which imitates the human intelligence and senses, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. Artificial Intelligence has brought a revolution in the world of technology.

AI is widely used in the field of healthcare. Companies are attempting to develop technologies that will allow for rapid diagnosis. Artificial Intelligence would be able to operate on patients without the need for human oversight. Surgical procedures based on technology are already being performed.Artificial Intelligence would save a lot of our time. The use of robots would decrease human labour. For example, in industries robots are used which have saved a lot of human effort and time. In the field of education, AI has the potential to be very effective. It can bring innovative ways of teaching students with the help of which students will be able to learn the concepts better. Artificial intelligence is the future of innovative technology as we can use it in many fields. For example, it can be used in the Military sector, Industrial sector, Automobiles, etc. In the coming years, we will be able to see more applications of AI as this technology is evolving day by day.

Artificial Intelligence may seem to be a new technology but if we do a bit of research, we will find that it has roots deep in the past. In Greek Mythology, it is said that the concepts of AI were used. The model of Artificial neurons was first brought forward in 1943 by Warren McCulloch and Walter Pits. After seven years, in 1950, a research paper related to AI was published by Alan Turing which was titled 'Computer Machinery and Intelligence. The term Artificial Intelligence was first coined in 1956 by John McCarthy, who is known as the father of Artificial Intelligence. To conclude, we can say that Artificial Intelligence will be the future of the world. As per the experts, we won't be able to separate ourselves from this technology as it would become an integral part of our lives shortly. AI would change the way we live in this world. This technology would prove to be revolutionary because it will change our lives for good. 

*Types of Artificial Intelligence*👇

Artificial Intelligence is categorized in two types based on capabilities and functionalities. Artificial Intelligence Type-1Artificial Intelligence Type-2

*Artificial Intelligence Type- 2*

*Narrow AI (weak AI):* 

This is designed to perform a specific task with intelligence. It is termed as weak AI because it cannot perform beyond its limitations. It is trained to do a specific task. Some examples of Narrow AI are facial recognition (Siri in Apple phones), speech, and image recognition. IBM’s Watson supercomputer, self-driving cars, playing chess, and solving equations are also some of the examples of weak AI.

*General AI (AGI or strong AI):* This system can perform nearly every cognitive task as efficiently as humans can do. The main characteristic of general AI is to make a system that can think like a human on its own. This is a long-term goal of many researchers to create such machines.

*Super AI*: Super AI is a type of intelligence of systems in which machines can surpass human intelligence and can perform any cognitive task better than humans. The main features of strong AI would be the ability to think, reason, solve puzzles, make judgements, plan and communicate on its own. The creation of strong AI might be the biggest revolution in human history.

*Artificial Intelligence Type -1*👇

*Reactive Machines:* These machines are the basic types of AI. Such AI systems focus only on current situations and react as per the best possible action. They do not store memories for future actions. IBM’s deep blue system and Google’s Alpha go are the examples of reactive machines.

*Limited Memory:* These machines can store data or past memories for a short period of time. Examples are self-driving cars. They can store information to navigate the road, speed, and distance of nearby cars.

*Theory of Mind:* These systems understand emotions, beliefs, and requirements like humans. These kinds of machines are still not invented and it’s a long-term goal for the researchers to create one.

If you don't know, the spiciness of these peppers is measured via the Scoville Scale. It's a scale that was invented by Wilbur Scoville over 100 years ago. According to experts, these peppers contain a compound called capsaicinoids , which stimulates the nerve endings that are situated underneath the tongue and communicate that sensation of heat or burning to the brain🧠

On August 11, 2017, it entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the hottest chili pepper in the world, toppling the previous record-holder – The Trinidad Scorpion.

It is the spiciest pepper in the world. If we got by the reports, it was first found in the state of South Carolina and that is how it got its name. It has got a unique look and even has a scorpion tale.

Why is it so hot? 

The pungency of this pepper lies in the density of capsaicinoids, especially capsaicin, which is directly related to the intensity of heat and SHU scale of a chilli pepper.  

The big deception 

The name of this pepper is sweet and, in no way, proves that it is the hottest pepper in the world. The big deception lies in its taste. As you take a bite, it tastes fruity and, hold your breath, sweet!  

And then comes out the truth – the sweetness turns into “molten lava” and you are on fire!  

So, do not go by its name and the first bite. The pepper is very, very hot.

Carolina Reaper is small in size, as you can see in the image above. It is just 1-2 inches wide and 2-3 inches long. Mature pods show a vibrant red color. Its skin shows a bumpy texture, though a few of them can show a smoother texture.

* MORUGA SCORPION

It is the second hottest pepper in Trinidad. If experts are to be believed, it has a fruity taste beneath the intense level of spices.

* NAGA MORICH

Also known as 'The Snake' this pepper comes from Bangladesh and has a wrinkly structure like Bhut Jolokia. It is smaller in size and is characterized by ribs on the outer peel. According to experts, its flavour is less earthy than Bhut Jolokia.

*CHOCOLATE TRINIDAD SCORPION

It is another hottest chilli pepper in the world and comes a whopping 1.2 million on the Scoville scale, making it one of the hottest peppers on the planet. It is best used in BBQ and sauces.

* GHOST PEPPER(BHUT JOLOKIA)

Also known as the Holy Pepper, it belongs to India. Bhut Jolokia has an elongated shape of 4 – 7 cm and a wrinkled skin. According to the Defense Research Laboratory, the spiciness of Bhut Jolokia is 855,000 SHU.

* HABANERO RED SAVINA PEPPER

It is a part of the capsicum Chinese family and was mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records as the hottest pepper in the world from ’94 until 2007. Its spiciness varies from 350,000 to 850,000 SHU.

* SCOTCH BONNER PEPPER

It is a variety of chilli pepper mostly harvested in Caribbean islands but is also known in Guyana, where it is named “ball of fire”. 

* MANZANO PEPPER 

Harvested in Peru and Bolivia, this variety has a typical red colour and the consistency of its flesh is much more than that of other peppers.

Dragon’s Breath is in close competition with Carolina Reaper. In fact, a few reports state that Dragon’s Breath is the number one in hotness. It is hotter than Carolina. However, if this is true, then, according to dieticians and doctors around, this pepper is not for human consumption. Its hotness could kill you! Its SHU figure is 2.48 million. This is almost one million units more than Carolina.  

It truly is Dragon’s breath.  

However, we stick to Carolina Pepper as the hottest pepper in the world because here we are talking about foods that we can eat, even though it’s only a single bite.
